Give Your Trash A New Life

Macomb's branch of BTS includes a recycling facility that processes single stream recycling. Single stream recycling material is recycling material that must be sorted at BTS. BTS employs over 50 people to sort material on two separate shifts. Currently BTS is recycling over 2,000,000 pounds per year and growing.

Types Accepted:

	•	Aluminum cans		•	Paper (newspaper, office, junk mail)
	•	Tin cans		•	Clear, green, or brown glass
	•	Metal cans		•	#1 plastic soda and water bottles
	•	Magazines		•	#2 plastic milk or water jugs or detergent bottles
	•	Cardboard

Guides for Recycling:

	Cans:		Rinse and remove lids on aluminum, tin or metal cans that have contained food or beverages. Labels do not have to be removed.
	Glass:		Remove lids and rinse unbroken glass.
	Paper:		Must be dry and unbundled.
	Plastic:		Remove all caps and rinse out containers.
	Cardboard:		Only corrugated cardboard is accepted. Please discard the packing material.

Drop Off Hours:

Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon

Closed on Major Holidays   

A few ways you can help America recycle:

	•	Recycle or compost whenever possible instead of throwing items away.
	•	Reuse items and repair them instead of immediately replacing them.
	•	Purchase items that are recyclable or are made from recycled materials.
	•	Purchase items with less packaging and in larger "economy" sizes.
	•	Donate unwanted items to charitable organizations.
