With the construction of our new blasting
facility, we are now able to sand blast items up to a size of 17' X 8' X
8'. Sand blasting is a great way to remove old paint and rust from parts
prior to powder coating. It not only removes surface contaminates but also
gives the metal a fine texture that allows the powder coating to adhere to
the metal for even better strength.
 BTS
uses pressure feed blasters that have a pressurized tank to force the media
up through a flexible pipe at high velocity. This design works best: paint
and rust disappear almost magically from the surface. There's nothing that
compares
to the finish blasting provides to metal
repair and refinishing. As you remove the old finish from the panel, you
immediately notice the finely textured metal beneath. You're looking at an
optimum surface for paint adhesion. It is at this point you'll begin to see
why so much restorative work is done with our trusty sandblaster. When the
right grade of sand is used, items can be blasted down to the metal, including
rust pits!
 What Type of Blast Media Do We Use?
It depends on the surface to be cleaned
up. Some items require nothing more exotic than washed beach sand. More delicate
items are another matter. BTS is able to sandblast with various grades of
sand, glass bead, plastic, and ground walnut shells.
BTS is capable of the most delicate
work such as the unopened soda can shown to large heavy duty snow plows.
